Lisa’s favourite quote is “There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing.”
As an active mom based on Canada’s wet and rugged West Coast, Lisa discovered that finding warm footwear for her young kids was near impossible. With her five-month old son in a backpack, Lisa resorted to wrapping scarves around her son’s legs to keep him warm. When she met another mom who had 6 years earlier made a boot that looked a lot like a fleece-lined chalk bag for her child, Lisa instantly knew these booties could fill a need in the market. Together, they created some samples and attended their first trade show in 2004.
While the original booties were created out of necessity, the company has grown out of a passion for the products’ ability to help parents connect with their kids in the great outdoors. With Lisa leading a growing team and closely involved in production at their head office in Vancouver, BC, the company continues to flourish into one of the dominant manufacturers of versatile children’s outdoor gear.
The booties are made of flexible fabric and have rubberized non-skid soft soles. The shoe does not need to fit exactly when choosing a size and can be worn with bare feet, with our Linerz or over a sock and shoe depending on how cold the weather is. Due to the generous and adjustable fit and flexible construction, children can often wear the same size throughout the year.
The Linerz fit inside each size of bootie. When choosing Linerz size, please take into consideration that Linerz will take up space inside the booties, and the booties will fit slightly smaller with a layer inside.
The Mittz sizing is approximately what the bootie sizing is but will fit kids up to age 7. They tend to fit on the larger side.
The Hatz sizing corresponds to the bootie sizing with the exception of the XL which will fit kids to age 5.

They can be worn as primary footwear (with just bare feet) or as a shell (worn with something else inside them like a sock/slipper/leather shoe). The booties are fleece-lined inside and coated nylon outside, making them wind and rain resistant. If the booties are going to be worn in very cold weather, we suggest adequate layering inside the booties. For example, you may choose to layer up with our Stonz Linerz, sheepskins slippers, or leather slippers for extra warmth.
The key with the booties is assessing the weather you're about to be in and then layering up inside the booties accordingly. Parents and caregivers are the best judge of the weather outside and the protection required for their children. The booties are meant for all seasons; designed for flexibility in almost every outdoor weather condition.
Soft soled shoes have been recommended by experts for years for developing feet. Little feet are able to flex and grip allowing them to balance and stand with the additional room inside their footwear. Stonz booties feature an outer sole with a rubbery material and the inside is layered with fleece. Depending on the conditions, additional layers (socks, Stonz Linerz, or light-weight shoes) can be added inside the booties. These layers provide considerable protection between the child’s foot and the ground, while allowing the child to walk freely given the light-weight, soft-soled design of the booties.
Please limit use to short periods of time on concrete or pavement-like surfaces, as this may wear out your booties’ soles prematurely. Keep in mind that these are soft-soled and not hard-soled footwear.
Stonz booties can be layered up inside, with as many layers that will fit, for extreme warmth. Stonz also sells sherpa-fleece Linerz for additional warmth. Conversely, the booties can be worn in temperate weather conditions with as little as bare feet or socks. We feel that ultimately a parent or caregiver is the best judge of what layers are suitable under the booties depending on the weather conditions outdoors.
Stonz booties are made of coated nylon fabric making them rain repellent and wind resistant. The booties' soles are made of a waterproof rubberized fabric, the same fabric on the palm and thumb of our new Mittz (size Large and XL only), making the booties suitable for outdoor use. When the child is being carried, rain and wind will keep out of the booties. When spending time puddle jumping, playing in water and slush, it may take awhile but eventually water will make its way in. We suggest throwing the booties in the dryer for 5-10 minutes on gentle. And you're ready to head out again!
All Stonz products are made in Vancouver, BC and low maintenance & high quality. Our products may be machine laundered with like-colours and machine dried on warm. We suggest you machine wash and dry the Booties, Mittz & Hatz inside-out on delicate to protect the appliqué. See Washing & Care for instructions on how to wash all Stonz products.
The outside of the Booties and Mittz are made of a coated nylon fabric & the inside is lined with fleece. The design on the Booties and Mittz is a hand-sewn appliqué made of nylon fabric. The soles are a rubberized waterproof fabric.
The Linerz are fleece and Sherpa fleece, making them very warm.
The Hatz are made of high quality anti-pill fleece.
As Stonz booties can be used in colder weather as an over-boot, we created our own version of a very warm fleece sock but better! We'd been asked for years what the booties should go over in colder weather and decided to create something ourselves. Extremely warm, the Sherpa fleece Linerz come ready to be inserted in your booties, are easily cared for and fit perfectly into each corresponding bootie size.
Stonz Mittz are unique because they are designed, like our booties, to go on with a wide opening, easily, over the child’s outdoor clothing, and they go on last when getting dressed for ease. They slip on all the way to the elbow so that cold air, rain and snow stay out of wrists and fingers. The newborn to 24 month Mittz do not have a thumb for ease-on and extra warmth and the 2 years and older Mittz are designed with a thumb. All Stonz Mittz have toggles at the wrist and upper forearm, ensuring they stay on!
Finding a good quality hat to match outerwear is difficult. We decided to make it easier by offering 2 different styles of hat in many different colours and appliqué designs. Stonz Hatz are made of high quality, anti-pill fleece and match Stonz Mittz and Booties.

There are many styles of rain boots on the market and we feel that we chose the most generic style for our linerz to fit into. We tested a few styles of rain boots with the linerz and our linerz still fold over the loops with most. The customer has the choice of tucking in or folding the liner inside the boot.
Yes, you can fold over as much as is required to get a good fit.
The sizing is made to equal the size of the boot so if the child’s foot fits snuggly, you may want to try a size up with a liner. If the boot was large for the child, the linerz inside will lessen the gap between the foot and the boot size.
It fits like a thick sock so we recommend that you use your best judgment based on how the foot already fits. If the boot fits perfectly on the child when the child has thick socks, the boot should fit perfectly with the linerz. If the rain boot fits snug with bare feet, then adding the linerz the rain boot will likely make the boot too tight.
Yes - there is a left and a right. The Stonz label will be on the outside of each right and left leg.
